What are cookies?
This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are and how we use them, the types of cookies we use (i.e., the information we collect using cookies and how that information is used), and how to manage your cookie settings.
Cookies are small text files used to store small pieces of information. They are saved on your device when the website loads in your browser. These cookies help us make the site function properly, keep it secure, provide a better user experience, and understand how the site performs so we can analyse what works and where it needs improvement.
How do we use cookies?
Like most online services, our website uses first-party and third-party cookies for several purposes. First-party cookies are set by our own website. Most are needed for the website to work. One, vc_attr, is an analytics cookie that we set only if you accept analytics cookies; it is described below.
The third-party cookies on our site mainly help us understand how the website performs, how you interact with it, keep our services secure, provide advertisements relevant to you, and generally deliver a better, faster experience for you in future visits.
The tools we use
CookieYes shows our cookie banner and stores your choice in a cookie called cookieyes-consent, so we do not ask you again on every page.
Google Analytics 4 (Google) measures how people use our website. It sets its cookies (_ga and _ga_ followed by an ID) only if you accept analytics cookies.
Google Ads (Google) measures enquiries that come from our adverts. It sets its cookie (_gcl_au) only if you accept advertising cookies.
Meta Pixel (Meta, which runs Facebook and Instagram) measures our adverts on Meta. It loads only if you accept advertising cookies, and sets _fbp, plus _fbc if you arrive from a Meta advert. When you send an enquiry it tells Meta that a form was sent and which form it was, not what you wrote.
HubSpot is where we keep enquiries. Its tracking code loads only if you accept both analytics and advertising cookies. It sets hubspotutk, __hstc, __hssc and __hssrc, records the pages you visit and links them to your enquiry if you send one.
reCAPTCHA (Google) checks our forms for spam.
vc_attr is our own cookie. It remembers how you reached our website: the campaign tags and ad click identifiers in the link you followed, the page you landed on, the website that sent you, and when. It keeps your first and your most recent visit for 90 days, so that an enquiry you send later records how you found us. We set it only if you accept analytics cookies, and remove it if you withdraw that consent. If you have not accepted analytics cookies, a form you send still records these details from the page you send it from, but nothing is stored on your device.
Google’s tags follow your cookie choices through Google Consent Mode. If you decline analytics or advertising cookies, Google’s tags do not set or read cookies; they send Google limited information without cookies, which Google uses to estimate overall figures. If you decline advertising cookies and arrived from a Google advert, the advert’s click information can be carried in the page address as you move between our pages, instead of being stored in a cookie.
